One of Food from Thought’s inaugural research assistants, Andrew Nixon, will receive U of G’s top convocation award for graduate students. The Forster Medal, named for the late Donald Forster (a former U of G president), recognizes academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship.

Andrew, a master’s student in management, received the award for accomplishments that include founding the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education Global Student Voices, co-founding the Guelph Agri-Food Network, and co-founding Zerocery, an online zero-waste grocery retailer. He is joining the University this fall with an Arrell Scholarship to do a PhD in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, working under the supervision of Dr. Simon Somogyi.
